Continuous Improvement Manager / Quality Manager Lean 5S

 Job Description:

Position: Continuous Improvement Manager / Quality Manager

Locations: Greater Richmond area Virginia (Relocation Assistance)

Industry: Pulp and Paper Packaging

Skills: Lean, CI, Kaizen, 5s, Quality, Six-Sigma Tools

Salary: Based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the foundation of the plant's continuous improvement program by ensuring the effective functioning and alignment of Lean Production System Pillars and Processes.
  • You will provide expertise in the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools, ensuring that the tools are used appropriately (Kaizen, 5S Standard Work Procedures, Organization and Communication boards)
  • You will coordinate Quality Control activities & Quality Assurance process improvement. (quality of raw materials and niche products, non-conformities management, and trial management)
  • You will manage requirements, complaints & site communication to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • You will implement and enforce quality standards by established systems and certifications (RPTA, FSC & others)
  • You will lead Continuous Improvement Quality Pillar progress at the site level and act as the champion for the unit within the Network.
  • You will develop action plans and ensure that activities are aligned with the plant's strategic business objectives
  • You will collaborate with the site management team to identify plant cost reduction and product quality improvement opportunities through the delivery and execution of CI initiatives

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical and/or engineering, industrial technology, or related field.
  • Must have 5 to 10 years of experience in the continuous improvement field within a manufacturing or industrial environment is a must.
  • Must have 5 to 10 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry is a definite asset. Heavy Industrial Manufacturing a must.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is considered a strong asset
  • Strong analytical skills and adept at navigating complex situations to find effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of fostering collaboration and influence buy-in across the facility
  • Skilled in organizing and prioritizing tasks, with a deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, promoting a collaborative work environment
