Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Expansion & Partnerships Lead to spearhead our market entry and growth initiatives across multiple African countries and beyond. This role is critical in building and managing strategic partnerships with banks, mobile money providers, fintech companies, and other stakeholders, while leading the licensing and regulatory approval processes to ensure full compliance and operational readiness in new markets.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully securing regulatory licenses and approvals in African jurisdictions, with deep knowledge of local compliance requirements and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive, strategic, and results-driven individual committed to driving growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and deepen strategic partnerships with banks, mobile money providers, and fintech companies across target African markets.
- Lead the process of securing all required licenses, regulatory approvals, and Letters of No Objection to enable compliant market entry and operations.
- Act as the main liaison with partners, regulators and government agencies, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring proactive partnerships.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Compliance, Treasury, Customer Success, and Legal teams to align partnership execution with company goals and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and market trends to identify risks and new opportunities for growth, reporting progress and challenges regularly to leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fintech partnerships, business development, or market expansion, preferably in payments or remittances.
- Proven track record of successfully securing licenses and regulatory approvals in African markets.
- Strong understanding of fintech regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills with the ability to engage regulators, partners, and internal teams effectively.
- Proactive, results-driven mindset with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
