Welding Quality Control Inspector(GSU)

Job Summary:

• The QC Inspector verifies that all piping fabrication and welding activities conform to project specifications, approved procedures, and applicable codes. The role covers inspection from material receipt through fit-up, welding, NDE coordination, and final acceptance, with full documentation at every stage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform receiving inspection of piping materials, checking certificates, markings, and condition against purchase and project requirements.
• Inspect and accept fit-ups prior to welding: root gap, alignment, bevel condition, cleanliness, and material verification.
• Carry out visual inspection of completed welds against ASME B31.3 acceptance criteria.
• Verify WPS compliance at the workface, including welder identity, qualification range, consumables, and preheat/interpass control.
• Raise NDE requests, review RT/UT/PT reports, and track repairs through re-examination and close-out.
• Maintain weld logs, inspection records, and traceability documentation in the project QC system.
• Compile and verify test packs; witness pressure tests and record results.
• Raise NCRs for non-conforming work and follow corrective actions through to closure.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of QC inspection experience in piping fabrication or construction for oil & gas projects.
• Valid CSWIP 3.1 (or AWS CWI / equivalent) welding inspector certification.
• Working knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME IX, and common NDE methods and acceptance criteria.
• Experienced in weld log management, traceability, and test pack compilation.
• Competent user of MS Excel and standard QC documentation systems.
