About the job Senior Legal Advisor

Purpose:  to provide legal support to the Companys project activities and ensure accurate legal interpretation and advice on the laws and agreements under which the Company operates.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide professional advice, research and support in all legal matters related to the Companys activities.
  2. Review and ensure compliance of Company documents (agreements, contracts, memorandums, letters, etc.) with legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  3. Support the Legal Manager in the daily operations of Department.
  4. Assist the Company Management and other internal functions in development and implementation of Company policies and procedures.
  5. Represent the Companys legal interests before state bodies, courts and third parties. Prepare and present legal arguments in the course of proceedings.
  6. Analyse and prepare documentation relating to litigation, claims, and legal matters.
  7. Attend (as required) internal and external meetings.
  8. Maintain records of agreements and original documents held by the Legal Department.
  9. Liaise with external legal counsel: define scope of work, issue instructions, monitor progress of work and ensure proper time allocation and billing.
  10. Monitor legislative developments.
  11. Stay updated on applicable legislation and provide timely legal analysis and advice on  implications of applicable legislation to the Company operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

The job holder must have:

  • § High University degree in law or equivalent degree.
  • § Minimum of five years of professional legal experience with a major international law firm or mid-to-large size multinational corporate law department.
  • § Bar Admission - in any jurisdiction. 
  • Knowledge and experience of oil and gas transactions.

  • Capability to work with PC, MS Office programs.
  • Good verbal and written English.

Working Conditions:

Office based, 5/2 scheduled work with business trips around KZ and abroad, if required.
