Welder(KZ National)
About the job Welder(KZ National)
Job Summary:
- The Welder produces code-quality welds on the project's piping systems, with particular emphasis on stainless steel lines and pneumatic haulage piping. Every weld is executed to the approved WPS and must meet the project's NDE acceptance criteria with a minimal repair rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weld stainless steel and carbon steel piping joints — root, fill, and cap — in all positions using GTAW and/or SMAW as defined by the applicable WPS.
- Weld pneumatic haulage piping to project drawings and specifications, producing leak-tight joints suitable for pressurized service.
- Set and hold WPS parameters: consumables, amperage/voltage ranges, preheat, interpass temperature, and shielding/backing gas.
- Purge stainless steel joints correctly and confirm purge quality before striking the root pass.
- Self-inspect each completed weld visually; carry out grinding and approved repairs when directed by QC.
- Maintain a low repair rate against RT/UT/PT results and act on QC feedback.
- Keep welder qualification continuity current; attend requalification tests when scheduled.
- Look after welding machines, hoses, and consumable storage (ovens, quivers); comply with hot work permit conditions at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid welder qualifications to ASME IX (or equivalent) covering the required processes, positions, and material groups, including stainless steel.
- Minimum 4 years welding process or utility piping on industrial projects; prior experience with pneumatic haulage or compressed-air piping is a strong advantage.
- Proficient in GTAW (TIG) on stainless steel, including purging technique.
- Able to read weld maps and WPS documents.
