IT Systems Engineer Lv4 (ISD Tech Lead), Woodlawn, MD

Our client, based out of Woodlawn, MD, has an opening for an IT Systems Engineer Lv4 (ISD Tech Lead), on a contract basis.

Responsibilities

  • Will be a member of an Integrated Service Delivery Team providing support for all aspects of customers’ on-prem VMware infrastructure and responsible for providing Wintel and/or Unix/Linux engineering, implementation and technical support for multiple enterprise data centers.
  • Will operate as the technical lead for their assigned ISD (Integrated Service Delivery) team and provide leadership and guidance to junior engineers and team management activities as needed in support or collaboration with the ISD Manager. This is not a supervisory role but it will entail assignment of tasks, tickets, service requests and other actionable items to ensure that core applications, systems and services are available and operational. The candidate will help monitor, maintain and upkeep Production uptime to a ratio of 99.9% for the portfolio of applications assigned to their respective ISD team.
  • Will work closely with the customer, application and business owners and other service providers and must maintain strong positive relationships with all. The candidate will attend (and lead as needed) regular customer meetings, capture minutes, notes and action items and represent customer concerns back to the program.
  • May need to give presentations from time to time and often this entails producing well written technical documents specific to the customer's environment and objectives. The candidate must be able to speak clearly and communicate effectively (both written and verbally) with a customer's Technical Staff as well as Senior Management andasit is requirted to conduct regularbiweekly meetings with each of the Application representative who include Business maintainers as well as developers.
  • Will ensure processes defined are being both implemented and followed. Participate in standardization efforts to ensure the team can take advantage of repeatable processes to support the environment Manage and work on continuous improvement of the deployment, testing, maintenance, support. Help identify areas of improvement not limited to technology but will include processes within existing Leidos engagement and define roadmaps to achieve improvement within the Wintel environment.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree. Considered an expert, authority in discipline.
  • Strong Engineering & Design experience of Windows/Unix environment using VMware technology.
  • Strong experience implementing and configuring various Hardware include Bladeframes from multiple vendors such as HP, Dell and Cisco.
  • Strong experience deploying and managing VMWare ESX Host infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with Hyper-Converged Technologies.
  • Strong Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 server administration, builds, troubleshooting and support.
  • Knowledge of Linux REHL 6.x – 8.x server administration, builds, troubleshooting and support.
  • Experience with EMC Storage systems.
  • Understanding of Network File Systems (NFS).
  • Solid understanding of standard client/server, networking, TCP/IP, and internet fundamentals.
  • Ability to write script in an Administrative Language (PowerShell, Pyton, Ruby, or Shell).
  • Understanding of Active Directory Group/User objects.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure services: DNS, WINS, DHCP.
  • Solid understanding of Infoblox system.
  • Working knowledge of automation and configuration management. vRealize Automation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Salt experience is a plus.
  • Experience with equipment Racking/Stacking is desirable.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of customer organization (technical resources, management).
  • Scripting ability is ideal for Ansible and shell scripting.
  • Cloud technologies knowledge (AWS,Automation and Devops tools).
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
