Network (Datacom) Engineer T3, Remote

Our client, based out of Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Network (Datacom) Engineer T3 for a contract or contract to hire opportunity. 

This can be a remote position.

Description

  • Manage and maintain WAN connections between multiple remote offices, Cloud presence (AWS, Azure), and several primary datacenters managed by several different contractors.
  • Experience with Cisco OTV for cross datacenter connectivity.
  • Experience with Cisco Prime platforms – including upgrades.
  • Plan how applications can utilize software defined networks, including ACI contracts to eliminate the need for physical firewalls.
  • Ability to utilize network overlay technology for integration with AWS and Route 53.
  • Experience analyzing network traffic, using a variety of network tools to assess security-related events to assist in rapid identification and isolation of issues during incidents and outages.
  • Integration concepts of InfoBlox into a multi grid enterprise solution across multiple datacenters.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills specific to network security and ability to effectively work in cross functional teams as needed to resolve issues.
  • Daily duties will include responding to customer originated trouble tickets and service request along with planning and executing controlled changes within the infrastructure.
  • Services provided will include customer moves/adds/changes and will require after hours and/or weekend support for all changes.
  • Provide support to engineering and proposal development teams in the design and deployment of new technology infusions.
  • Rotational on-call schedule which included 24/7 support if needed.
  • Proficiency in evaluating business requirements, processes, technologies, applications, and information systems.
  • Presentation, written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess excellent logical and analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
Requirements

  • BS Degree with 8-12 years of experience or Masters Degree with 6-10 years.  Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Experience configuring/administrating various network technologies including: Cisco ACI, Cisco Prime, Cisco OTV, VMware NSX, and Route 53.
  • Experience with F5 LTM Configurations, application setup and troubleshooting, F5 code upgrades, BIG-IQ management.
  • Industry security certifications (Cisco CCNA, CCCNP, CompTIA, AWS, CISSP, GIAG or other security certifications) preferred.
  • Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.
  • Recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of functions strategy and operations.
  • Leads and manages works of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs.
  • Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.

  • Prepare or ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions and diagrams using Visio.
