Job Description:

The Udaiti Foundation is seeking a Strategy Consultant to help shape its organizational and program strategy. The Consultant will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to refine the strategy for Udaiti’s flagship Close the Gender Gap 30*30 Program , develop an actionable plan for scaling the initiative and sharply articulate the Udaiti strategy and its suite of solutions. . This role will involve assessing the current program and positioning, identifying high-impact opportunities, and developing a phased plan for scale, sustainability, and influence.


Scope of Work

The Consultant will support Udaiti in shaping strategic direction at both programmatic and organizational levels. The scope will include but not be limited to the following:

  1. Organisational Strategy

Work with the leadership team to develop the five year strategic roadmap for Udaiti

  • Revisit and refine Udaiti’s vision, mission, and theory of change to align with current opportunities and long-term goals.

  • Analyze existing programs, pilots, and partnerships, and recommend which to scale, consolidate, or sunset.

  • Define 35 strategic priorities for Udaiti over the next 35 years.

  • Assess current organizational structure, governance, and resource allocation, and propose enhancements for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Recommend strategies for strengthening Udaiti’s brand, thought leadership, and influence with key stakeholders including policy makers, private sector, funders, and ecosystem actors.

  • Identify key risks (financial, reputational, operational) and propose mitigation strategies.


  1. Close the Gender Gap (CGG) Strategy

Foundational to Udaiti’s work is their commitment to generating data-backed insights

and evidence for systemic change. Its flagship initiative, the Close the Gender Gap

(CGG) platform, is India’s most robust and actionable gender workforce equity

tooldesigned to equip businesses, policymakers, and civil society with deep, comparative insights on women’s representation in formal employment (in hiring, retention, leadership, and return to work), across sectors and companies. It draws on SEBI-mandated BRSR data from over 1,000 listed companies, as well as other public data sources. The scope of work includes:


  • Develop the five strategy for the Close the Gender Gap program

  • Map existing interventions, stakeholders, and policy frameworks addressing women’s workforce participation in India, with a focus on systemic barriers.

  • Define Udaiti’s unique value-add and positioning within the broader ecosystem.

  • Articulate medium- and long-term objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and expected outcomes.

  • Identify high-leverage interventions (policy, private sector, skilling, ecosystem partnerships) that can accelerate women’s economic participation.

  • Recommend priority partnerships with government, private sector, multilaterals, and civil society for scale and impact.

  • Suggest strategies for mobilizing resources (financial, knowledge, and networks) to sustain CGG.

  • Develop a phased roadmap with clear milestones, timelines, and accountability structures


  1. Strategic Communications

  • Develop a clear and compelling communications strategy that effectively narrates Udaiti’s work to diverse audiences including policymakers, private sector, funders, and civil society.

  • Build consistent messaging frameworks to ensure clarity, simplicity, and coherence across all communications.

  • Position Udaiti as a thought leader by aligning external communications with organizational strategy and program priorities.

  • Recommend approaches for translating complex data and insights into accessible narratives that drive influence and engagement.



Key Deliverables

  • Organizational roadmap (5 years) with strategic priorities, governance, and sustainability plan.

  • Strategic roadmap (5 years) for the Close the Gender Gap program, with goals, pathways, and metrics.


Shared through Presentation decks and a final consolidated strategy report.

Duration

The consulting period will be for a period of six months.


Reporting & Coordination

  • The Consultant will report directly to the CEO, Udaiti Foundation, and collaborate with the leadership team.

  • Regular check-ins (weekly/bi-weekly) will be scheduled for progress updates.


Competencies

  • Proven expertise in strategy development, preferably in non-profit, development, or social impact sectors.

  • Strong understanding of gender, workforce participation, and economic empowerment issues in India.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver strategic frameworks and roadmaps.

  • Excellent analytical, facilitation, and communication skills.
