About the Opportunity

A leading integrated healthcare system is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager II to lead their Labor and Delivery department. This is a backfill position in a high-volume L&D environment with 400+ deliveries per month. Nationwide relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Role Overview

The Nurse Manager II, L&D is responsible for leading the implementation of best practice models and patient care delivery systems, delegating tasks related to patient and family concerns, facilitating collaboration with physicians and outside providers, and maintaining clinical expertise and licensure. This role ensures safe, standardized care delivery in a 24/7 operational environment and leads continuous quality improvement across clinical practices, services, and operations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Build collaborative, cross-functional relationships; hire, train, and develop talent; set performance management guidelines across teams
  • Translate business plans into tactical action items; partner with stakeholders to ensure products and services meet departmental strategies
  • Manage hospital administrative functions including labor relations, HR, recruitment, training and development, quality and risk management, and departmental financial management
  • Manage care delivery operations in a 24/7 environment; develop strategic partnerships with physicians and service area leaders; lead multidisciplinary teams and hold them accountable for performance
  • Drive continuous improvement of quality and safety of clinical practices; maintain compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and federal, state, and local requirements
  • Proactively monitor resource needs; manage equipment, supplies, and medications; ensure a safe environment for patients and staff

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an ANM or Department Manager in Labor and Delivery required
  • Experience in a high-volume L&D unit with 400+ deliveries per month required
  • BSN required — MSN strongly preferred
  • Active Registered Nurse License — California required at hire
  • BLS and NRP certifications required at hire
  • Minimum 5 years of patient care delivery experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a leadership role
  • No visa sponsorship available

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSN degree
  • Experience managing mother/baby unit

Compensation

  • $239,000 – $251,000 base salary
