Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments upon admission and continuously throughout each shift, documenting findings accurately in the electronic medical record system
  • Administer prescribed medications safely and monitor patients carefully for therapeutic responses and potential adverse reactions
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, IV management, and other clinical procedures according to established protocols
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care
  • Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, medications, post-discharge instructions, and ongoing care requirements
  • Monitor vital signs, laboratory values, and clinical indicators, escalating concerns promptly to the appropriate providers
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing interventions, patient responses, and care plan updates
  • Participate actively in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and adhere strictly to infection control and patient safety standards
  • Assist with patient transport, repositioning, and mobility activities to promote recovery and prevent complications

Must-Have Requirements
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license valid in the state of Iowa
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly preferred
  • Minimum of one year of Medical Surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from an accredited provider
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and strong clinical documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple patients, and perform well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, evidence-based practice, and delivering compassionate, respectful care
