Core Responsibilities
  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with breathing disorders and cardiopulmonary conditions across various care settings
  • Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and breathing treatments as directed by physician orders
  • Perform diagnostic testing including pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, and bronchial hygiene procedures
  • Operate and manage mechanical ventilators for critically ill patients in intensive care units
  • Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and self-management techniques
  • Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and participate in code response teams
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation within electronic health record systems
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and revise individualized patient care plans
  • Inspect, clean, and ensure proper functioning of respiratory therapy equipment

Must-Have Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of Iowa
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care preferred
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in an acute care or hospital setting
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical ventilation and critical care respiratory procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine commitment to patient-centered care
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced clinical environments
  • Basic Life Support certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
