CDL A Driver Mentor - Front Royal, VA - Dedicated Reefer - $1,550/Wk
Location: Front Royal, Virginia
Average Earnings: $1,550 per week — approximately $80,600 annualized
Position Overview
Our client is hiring CDL-A drivers for a dedicated foodservice account seeking experienced drivers to serve as mentors while running their own freight. Freight on this fleet is refrigerated foodservice, no-touch, running the Northeast and Midwest — MA, CT, NY (Albany and Syracuse, with backhauls out of Buffalo), NJ, PA, MD, VA, NC, SC, OH, IN and KY.
Home time comes every two weeks, giving you a clear, repeatable schedule you can plan your life around while still running the miles that make the paycheck. Average earnings on this account run $1,550 per week, approximately $80,600 annualized.
Key Responsibilities
You will operate a Class A tractor-trailer safely and legally at all times, completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, monitoring your hours of service, and keeping your logs accurate and current in accordance with federal regulations and company policy.
You will transport freight on schedule across the Northeast and Midwest — MA, CT, NY (Albany and Syracuse, with backhauls out of Buffalo), NJ, PA, MD, VA, NC, SC, OH, IN and KY, following assigned routes, planning fuel and rest stops sensibly, and communicating proactively with your fleet manager when weather, traffic, or a customer delay puts a delivery window at risk.
This is a driver mentor role: you run the account's consistent, predictable routes while training and supporting newer drivers, and you earn a mentor bonus on top of standard pay.
Freight is no-touch with most loads refrigerated.
Round-the-clock office support staff are available, and the customer relationship has been in place for nearly a decade.
Drivers must obtain a Hazmat endorsement within 90 days of hire.
You will verify load counts, seals, and paperwork at pickup and delivery, secure freight correctly for transit, and complete bills of lading and delivery documentation accurately so the customer's records and yours agree.
You will represent our client professionally at every customer location, maintain the condition and cleanliness of your assigned equipment, and report mechanical issues promptly so they are addressed before they become a breakdown.
Requirements
A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required, along with a minimum of 6 months of verifiable CDL-A driving experience. You must meet all Department of Transportation qualification requirements and hold a current DOT medical certification.
An acceptable motor vehicle record and safety history are required. You must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and comply with all federal testing requirements throughout your employment.
Hiring across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast including Front Royal and Middletown VA, Allentown, Harrisburg, Shippensburg, Shartlesville, Martinsburg and Farmington PA, Jessup and Cumberland MD, Columbus, Cincinnati, Zanesville, Hendrysburg and Port William OH, Pluckemin NJ and Plympton MA. Truck parking is available at the main facility.
A Hazmat endorsement is required within 90 days of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain the endorsement, including the associated background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior refrigerated experience is strongly preferred. Comfort managing reefer units, monitoring temperature settings, and recognizing a problem before it becomes a claim matters on this freight.
A clean safety record, consistent on-time performance, and a track record of steady tenure with previous carriers all strengthen an application. Drivers who communicate well with dispatch, handle customer contact professionally, and take care of their equipment tend to do well on dedicated accounts like this one.
Compensation and Benefits
Average earnings on this account are $1,550 per week, approximately $80,600 annualized. Pay is made up of: Mileage pay; Mentor bonus; Detention pay; Safe & On-Time Bonus — up to 3% of mileage pay.
Home time: Home every 2 weeks. Most drivers get home weekly, with a guarantee of home at least every other weekend for a 34-hour reset. Drivers domiciled in Front Royal get home weekly. Night driving is required.
Equipment: automatic sleeper cabs pulling 53' refrigerated trailers. There are currently 8 openings on this fleet.
If the fleet's start point is in a different state from where you live, the company covers your travel out to orientation - bus or flight - and pays for your lodging while you are there.
We place drivers directly with the fleets we represent, and we stay with you through the process — application, orientation scheduling, and the first weeks on the account. If this fleet is not the right fit, we recruit for a range of dedicated, regional, local and team accounts nationwide and will point you toward one that matches your home time and earnings goals.
We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must meet all Department of Transportation qualification requirements, including a current DOT medical certification.
