Core Responsibilities
  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with breathing disorders and cardiopulmonary conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy, and pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Operate and manage mechanical ventilators and related life support equipment
  • Perform diagnostic testing including pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas analysis, and oximetry monitoring
  • Respond to emergency situations, including rapid response calls and code events, providing airway management and resuscitation support
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record system
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to develop and adjust individualized patient treatment plans
  • Educate patients and their families regarding respiratory conditions, medication usage, and disease management techniques
  • Maintain respiratory therapy equipment in accordance with infection control and safety standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings as required

Must-Have Requirements
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Current state licensure to practice respiratory therapy in Iowa or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date
  • Minimum of one year of clinical respiratory therapy experience in an acute care or hospital setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical ventilation management and airway management techniques
  • Strong knowledge of arterial blood gas interpretation and pulmonary function testing
  • Current Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work onsite consistently throughout the 90-day contract duration
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as determined by departmental scheduling needs
