An established financial services organization is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to join their enterprise analytics team. This role focuses on designing and delivering robust business intelligence solutions that support data-driven decision-making across multiple departments. The ideal candidate has deep experience with Microsoft Power BI, Azure cloud services, Databricks, and modern data modeling practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define reporting needs and translate them into scalable Power BI dashboards and data models

  • Design and build interactive reports using DAX, Power Query, and paginated reporting tools

  • Use Databricks and dbt to develop curated datasets and data models for Power BI integration

  • Build and optimize data pipelines and semantic models to improve accessibility and performance

  • Implement row-level security, data transformations, and automation processes to ensure quality and consistency

  • Monitor performance of Power BI solutions and identify areas for improvement

  • Maintain documentation for report specifications, source systems, and data validation procedures

  • Support end-users by providing guidance, troubleshooting issues, and enabling self-service analytics

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Power BI in enterprise environments

  • Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M Language), and advanced data modeling

  • Strong experience working with Azure tools including Databricks, Azure SQL, and Azure Analysis Services

  • Hands-on experience using dbt or equivalent tools for data transformation and modeling

  • Familiarity with large-scale data warehousing and cloud architecture

  • Solid understanding of relational databases and writing complex SQL queries

  • Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience working in the insurance or reinsurance domain is strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to other BI platforms such as Tableau, QlikView, or Cognos

  • Microsoft certification in Power BI or Azure Data Engineering is a plus

  • Familiarity with DevOps workflows, semantic layer design, and Power BI governance

This position requires candidates to be based in the New York City area and able to work onsite part of the week in a hybrid model. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
