COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a leading South African meat wholesaler supplying meat and other food products to sectors of the hotel, restaurant and hospitality industries. They are looking for a Dispatch Supervisor to join their Cape Town team.
JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain workflow by motivating drivers and vehicle loading assistants to work fast and correctly.
- Check that drivers and vehicle loading assistants are at work and report absentees timeously to Dispatch manager.
- Ensure that drivers and vehicle loading assistants plus you are wearing clean undamaged protective clothing as per company policy.
- Source completed invoices from invoicing personnel.
- Ensure that all routes are documented on the trip sheet allocated to the delivery route.
- Ensure that all individual orders are marked off on the correct invoice copy when loading.
- Ensure that drivers and vehicle loading assistants adhere to your instructions and perform their duties as per their job descriptions.
- Coordinate and control loading of final orders.
- Ensure products are checked for deviations from quality standards such as labels, lot or batch numbers and packaging before loading.
- Ensure all products are correctly weighed before loading.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices in the dispatch area.
- Implement and maintain measures to reduce wastage of and damage to stock being loaded.
- Ensure that temperature controls for the dispatch area and all products to be loaded are adhered to.
- Train new personnel in loading actions.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Relevant tertiary qualification in logistics, transport or similar
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar position
- Strong leadership skills to supervise a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders
- Ability to effectively resolve issues and make decisions under pressure
- Proficiency with logistics software
- Driver's license and own transport
