Our client is within the fashion accessories / FMCG sector and is seeking an energetic, commercially minded Regional Sales and Merchandising Manager to lead their Kwa-Zulu Natal sales and merchandising team.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Reporting directly to the National Sales & Merchandising Manager, you will lead the Kwa-Zulu Natal sales and merchandising operation, managing a team of Sales Representatives and Merchandisers across some of South Africa's largest retail groups.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for driving regional growth, developing high-performing people and ensuring exceptional execution in every store. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic thinking with regular time in the field, supporting your team and building strong customer relationships.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivering profitable regional sales growth and achieving monthly, quarterly and annual targets.
  • Leading, recruiting, coaching and performance-managing a team of Sales Representatives and Merchandisers.
  • Developing and implementing regional sales strategies to increase market share and grow customer accounts.
  • Managing regional operations, including route planning, resource allocation, productivity and cost control.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers while ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Ensuring outstanding merchandising standards, stock availability, planogram compliance and in-store execution across all customers.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand shelf space, improve product visibility and maximise sales.
  • Monitoring sales performance, market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining accurate reporting, administrative controls and communication with Head Office and other departments.
  • Regularly conducting field visits to coach team members, support key customers and ensure operational excellence.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 2 + Years FMCG sales experience
  • 2 + Years in a leadership or management role will be beneficial
  • Strong coaching and people management skills
  • Excellent commercial awareness
  • Confidence working with retail customers
  • Good Excel and reporting skills
  • A valid driver's license
  • Their own reliable vehicle
  • A willingness to travel extensively throughout Kwa-Zulu Natal
