COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Our client, an upmarket hotel and conference center in Pretoria is looking for an experienced and dedicated Barman to join their team as soon as possible. Candidates must be able to work long hours, night shifts and weekends to meet operational requirements.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regular attendance
- Arrive at work as per the departmental shift list.
- Attend Shift Briefing and receive work order/allocation (This must happen at the start of every shift)
- Maintain working knowledge of employee handbooks, policy and procedure manual
- Providing a high quality and consistent service to both internal and external customers
- Have an extensive knowledge about the products in circulation that are on offer
- Maintaining hygiene in back of house areas, Kitchens and storerooms
- Adhering to a high level of cleanliness in front of house and back of house food and beverage areas
- Ensuring that operating equipment is looked after packed away in the correct manner and locked away if necessary
- Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
- Knowledge of drinks and mixology
- Understanding customer preferences
- Taking orders directly from customers or from servers
- Providing friendly and efficient service
- Maintaining a clean and organized bar
- Managing bar inventory
- Ensuring the bar is well-stocked
- Cash handling
- Maintain a high level of personnel hygiene, appearance
- Work safely, adhering to all hotel health and safety precautions
- Attend hotel and/or departmental meetings and training sessions when necessary
- Maintaining a cleaning schedule for fridge seals, cupboards, glasses, coffee machines and general
- Disposal of waste before, after and during events or the opening and closing cleaning down procedures
- Work in co-operation with other departments, develop and maintain an effective working relationship
- Perform other duties as requested
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Min 3 years barman experience in hospitality industry
- Strong Beverage & Wine knowledge
- Good skills in cocktail and speciality coffee making (Barista)
- Micros experience beneficial
- Must be able to work long hours, night shifts and weekends to meet with operational requirements
- Must be trustworthy and honest
- Good communication skills
- Must be a good team player
