Our client is South Africa's leading multi-media trade and technical magazine publishers and exhibition organisers focused on the Mining, Plumbing, HEVCAR and Construction industries and they are looking for an Online Administrator to join their team as soon as possible.
JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
Maintenance and administration of digital media including websites, e-newsletters, digital publications, online communities and social media.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collation of online content
- Devise and implement strategic direction is consultation with directors for the sustainability of an online media solution
- Identify new media platforms relevant to our trade and technical industries and in collaboration with the content generation and sales department successfully implement.
- Daily updating of various digital media – as defined by management:
- Upload multimedia content (original, edited and sourced articles, news, images, audio, video) for online all digital media, ensuring quality (relevance, truthfulness, SEO) and accuracy:
- Factually accurate
- Reader-friendly
- Grammatically correct and free of spelling errors
- Optimised for search engines
- 100% accurate and up to date
- Upload before or on deadline
- Upload multimedia content (original, edited and sourced articles, news, images, audio, video) for online all digital media, ensuring quality (relevance, truthfulness, SEO) and accuracy:
- Upload and manage advertising media (collaborating with Sales) to ensure advertising is uploaded correctly and timeously.
- Daily maintenance of websites:
- Upload daily content; content provided by Editorial
- Ensure content and advertising is up to date by conducting regular audits
- Understand the functionality of websites
- Solve or report technical errors
- Coordinate dynamic links such as statistics, photographs, external websites and other related content
- Reporting on websites:
- Export and interpret weekly analytic reports, ensuring that areas of concerns are summarized, escalated and ultimately corrected
- Prepare reports to meet 3rd party requirements
- Monitor, co-ordinate and update social media profiles (internal and external):
- Update profiles daily with content from websites as well as re-posting external content.
- Ensure posts are current and regularly updated, following content plan and strategy for the relevant profile
- Manage social media interaction (e.g. respond to queries) and escalate when necessary
- Ensure that all reciprocal links (to and from our digital media) are correct and functioning
- Generate social media posts from content provided
- Follow marketing strategy to build up social media profiles, gain more followers and foster communities
- Maintain and expand user database:
- Understand demographics of online users, potential users and visitors
- Implement strategies to drive increased hits and registration of users utilising every means available
- Track online marketing campaigns:
- Interpret reports on email, social media, online advertising and other digital campaigns
- Ensure that objectives of campaigns are achieved
- Contribute to the various brands' online/digital presence:
- Take part in regular brainstorming sessions, submitting fresh and innovative ideas for stories, campaigns, improved functionality and integration of various platforms
- Keep company staff informed of relevant trends, developments and changes
- Take full responsibility for administration, compiling and distribution of all newsletters, working with customers to ensure freshness, quality, accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Attend industry events as necessary and indicated by management.
- Meet all deadlines as set by management.
Customer Service
- Liaise with customers (internal and external) to understand circumstances, problems, expectations and needs and feed this information through to the relevant parties.
- Educate customers by sharing information.
- Build collaborative relationships by building rapport and cooperation
- Prioritise importance of customers needs, taking action to meet them timeously; avoid over-commitment.
- Implement effective means for monitoring and evaluating customer concerns, issues and level of satisfaction with products and services.
General and Administration
- Be passionate and willing to learn in order to keep own technical and administrative skills and knowledge up to date
- Attend and contribute to meetings to ensure understanding of subjects that are directly relevant to the job, i.e. company products, social media and other online/digital trends, competitor activity and digital media maintenance.
- Undertake any training required.
- Assist with training others as required by management.

- Supply reports and information as required by management.
Website / social media / online platform building and maintenance
- Where required identify new opportunities and implement.
- Update platforms to newer versions as and when required.
- Should add-ons be required for new functionality source, implementation and test.
- Where sites, platforms and functionality are not working, proactively problem solve and work with various suppliers to resolve them timeously.
- Technical support and problem solving:
- Provide technical support for all customers, attending to complaints and compliments timeously
- Customers include: IMD staff, Advertisers, Online users, Associations
- Resolve all platform issues timeously
- Proactively ensure the optimization and efficiency of all the online media
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric
- Website development / administration qualification will be an added advantage
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 5 years experience in an online publishing / marketing environment
- Website administration experience
- Software Requirements: WordPress, Joomag, Proprof, Spotify, Everlytic, Photopia, various web browsers
- Advanced MS Excel skills (especially import, export and reporting functions)
- Experience in CMS (Content Management Systems)
- Excellent understanding of:
- Digital media (websites, social media, digital publishing, online communities)
- Digital content requirements (such as SEO) and how to apply and/or implement it
- Open source CMS platforms such as Joomla and WordPress
- Digital / online trends
- Online marketing
- Articulate in English with a good understanding of and aptitude for online writing and editing.
- Basic photo, video and audio editing skills
- Basic understanding or practical knowledge of relevant digital protocols, such as HTML, jQuery, HTTP, opt-in systems, etc.
