Legal Director

About Us

The Headhunter LTD, Albania — a daughter company of The Headhunter Karriera LLC (USA) — is seeking, on behalf of a leading real estate development client, an accomplished Legal Director to provide strategic legal leadership across a high-end mixed-use development portfolio, including residential, hospitality, retail, and commercial assets.

About the Role

This role will oversee all legal matters throughout the development lifecycle — from structuring and financing through to construction, leasing, and disposal — for a flagship mixed-use development project.

The ideal candidate is a senior legal professional with deep expertise in international law, corporate and commercial transactions, and complex real estate development, who can operate at both a strategic and operational level to protect the company's interests while enabling business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal guidance and counsel to senior management throughout all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Lead and manage corporate and commercial transactions related to mixed-use developments (residential, hospitality, retail, and commercial assets).
• Oversee project structuring, including joint ventures, partnerships, and investment vehicles.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including construction, development, leasing, financing, and vendor agreements.
• Ensure regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions relevant to the company's operations and projects.
• Manage and mitigate legal and commercial risk across the project portfolio.
• Advise on finance, taxation, and investment structures, including cross-border transaction matters.
• Lead dispute resolution efforts, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation management where required.
• Liaise with external counsel, regulators, and government authorities as needed.
• Support business objectives by aligning legal strategy with commercial and operational goals.
• Build, mentor, and manage the internal legal function/team.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Legal Director, Head of Legal, or senior legal counsel supporting large-scale, high-end mixed-use developments.
• Strong background in international law and cross-border transactions.
• Extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, including contract negotiation and project structuring.
• Solid understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to real estate, hospitality, and commercial development.
• Strong knowledge of finance, taxation, and investment structures.
• Demonstrated experience in dispute resolution and risk mitigation.
• Ability to operate strategically while managing day-to-day legal operations.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Law degree (LLB/JD) from an accredited institution; additional qualifications (LLM, bar admission) a strong plus.
• Fluency in English required; additional languages an advantage.
