On behalf of our client, a Canadian company and a leader in the Health and Safety consulting industry, we are looking for an Accountant to join their team in Toronto.

Position Overview

The Accountant plays a key role in managing the companys financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This individual supports management with financial analysis, bookkeeping, payroll coordination, and regulatory compliance while contributing to the overall financial stability and efficiency of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial & Accounting Management

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process invoices, payments, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.

2. Payroll & Compliance

  • Process payroll and ensure accuracy of deductions and remittances.
  • Prepare and submit statutory filings (HST, payroll remittances, WSIB, etc.).
  • Assist with T4 and year-end reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal tax regulations.

3. Reporting & Analysis

  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow projections.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to management.
  • Identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits.

4. Record Management & Documentation

  • Maintain organized financial documentation (digital and physical).
  • Ensure proper record retention in accordance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with external accountants and auditors as required.

5. Communication & Collaboration

  • Work closely with management and administrative staff.
  • Provide financial updates and insights for decision-making.
  • Handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and payroll processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
