Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Management Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment while leveraging industry-standard software such as AppFolio and Yardi. The ideal candidate will have prior bookkeeping experience in property management, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively alongside our in-office bookkeeper to ensure accurate and timely financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and distribute accurate and timely monthly reports to property owners.
- Handle accounts payable duties, including processing and paying bills for utilities (Con Edison, DEP), vendors, and mortgages.
- Reconcile bank accounts with financial reports to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including invoices, receipts, and statements.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes as necessary.
- Collaborate with property managers and other team members to ensure proper financial management and adherence to budgets.
- Stay updated with industry standards and changes in bookkeeping practices.
- Perform other tasks related to the position.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proficient level of English (written and spoken).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with cross-functional teams, internal leaders, providers, and potential clients.
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, preferably within property management.
- Proficiency in property management software AppFolio, Yardi; experience with other platforms is also valued.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable & receivable, including vendor management and bill payments.
- High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Must be available to work during Eastern Standard Time business hours.
- Sound judgment and the capacity to comprehend and execute instructions promptly with minimal supervision.
- Reliable computer (Windows 10 or newer), two monitors, and stable high-speed internet.
