The Role: Production Manager
This role is responsible for overseeing the production department to ensure operational efficiency, quality compliance, and customer satisfaction. The Production Manager will coordinate staff, equipment, and processes to achieve production objectives, manage health and safety standards, and drive improvements in performance and productivity.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage all production staff and schedules

Conduct weekly meetings with machine setters to address issues and share updates

Set production objectives and ensure targets for scrap rates, absenteeism, and cycle times are achieved

Oversee machine settings, maintenance, and optimal equipment usage

Ensure timely ordering of raw materials

Maintain and enforce compliance with production work instructions, quality standards, and environmental requirements

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across processes and products

Conduct formal reviews of production activities and procedures

Review customer releases and plan production accordingly

Identify and implement process, tooling, and equipment improvements

Manage and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production

Collaborate with quality and other departments to address non-conformance issues

Support internal and ISO 9001:2015 audits

Maintain accurate and timely production reporting
About You
-
Minimum 5 years experience in injection moulding machine setting and optimisation
-
At least 3 years supervisory experience in a plastics manufacturing environment

Code 08 drivers licence and South African citizenship

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; database experience advantageous

Skilled in compiling management data reports and maintaining high organisational standards

Excellent communication and leadership skills with a focus on team motivation
