The Role: Yacht Systems & Mechanical Design Specialist
You will join the Drawing Office team responsible for the full design and documentation of mechanical and systems-related components of luxury yachts, including piping, propulsion, HVAC, and electrical systems. This is a permanent, on-site role reporting to the Drawing Office Supervisor, working closely with the Technical Coordinator, designers, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality, integrated engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop yacht mechanical systems layouts, including piping, wiring, and drivetrain arrangements.
- Produce detailed 3D models (SolidWorks) and 2D drawings (AutoCAD or equivalent) for production.
- Create system schematics and ensure seamless integration with structural and interior design elements.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams to maintain technical alignment.
- Ensure all systems comply with specifications, safety standards, and classification requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovative design solutions.
- Deliver accurate and timely design packages, supporting production and quality control teams.
About You
- BEng or BSc in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical systems design within the marine industry.
- Proficient in 3D parametric modeling (SolidWorks) and 2D drafting (AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of yacht or ship systems, propulsion, HVAC, hydraulics, and electrical.
- Practical sailing experience is advantageous.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communicator with experience in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Proactive problem-solver with initiative and commitment to deadlines willing to work overtime when required.
