Were looking for a Health and Safety Officer who is passionate about creating safer workspaces and ensuring regulatory compliance across two diverse businessesa manufacturing & repair company and a machining facility on a structured rotational basis.

In this role, you won't just be checking boxes, you'll be empowering teams, preventing risks, and shaping a safety-first culture. You'll lead HSE efforts across two operational sites, directly influencing how safety protocols are implemented, enforced, and improved.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures

  • Conduct routine site inspections and risk assessments, ensuring full legal and operational compliance

  • Train and educate employees on safety best practices, PPE use, and emergency procedures

  • Investigate and report on incidents, near misses, and hazards, with root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Collaborate with department heads to address site-specific safety requirements

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest in OHS laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, audits, training, and incidents

  • Participate in safety committees and stakeholder meetings, contributing to long-term risk mitigation strategies

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably within engineering or industrial environments

  • Solid knowledge of South African OHS laws, regulations, and best practices

  • Certifications such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or ISO 45001 (highly advantageous)

  • Strong ability to analyze data, identify hazards, and implement safety improvements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills you can train, lead, and influence others effectively

  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in safety management systems and reporting software

  • Highly organized, solution-oriented, and calm under pressure
