About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Payroll Officer with a solid finance background and expert-level knowledge of Sage Payroll to manage the end-to-end payroll function for 300+ employees. This is a critical role focused on accuracy, compliance, and the ongoing improvement of payroll systems and workflows. You will be based at our offices in the CTICC, in the heart of Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full monthly payroll cycle using Sage Payroll for over 300 employees
• Ensure accurate and timeous processing of salaries, wages, deductions, and benefits
• Prepare and submit EMP201, IRP5s, and all relevant statutory documentation
• Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies or queries
• Automate payroll processes where possible and identify efficiency improvements
• Collaborate with the finance team for month-end and year-end processes
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with SARS and labour legislation
• Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements
• Provide reports and payroll insights to management when needed

Key Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll management
• Proven experience processing large-scale payrolls (300+ employees)
• Advanced proficiency in Sage Payroll is non-negotiable
• Must have completed EMP201, IRP5, and year-end SARS submissions
• Demonstrated ability to automate systems and improve payroll workflows
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• In-depth knowledge of South African payroll legislation
• Finance/accounting background is essential applicants with only HR backgrounds will not be considered
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality
• Advanced Excel 

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar field
• SARS E-filing experience and certifications (advantageous)
• Sage Payroll training certifications (advantageous)
