Millwright Manufacturing Environment

Introduction

An established leader in the manufacturing sector is seeking a qualified Millwright to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will perform electrical and mechanical inspections, repairs, and maintenance to ensure optimal and safe operations of all engineering equipment. This role is critical to minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring product quality, and supporting production processes efficiently.

Duties & Responsibilities

Engineering and Maintenance Control (65%)

  • Diagnose root causes of equipment failure and implement repair solutions swiftly.
  • Perform repairs to minimize equipment downtime and prevent damage.
  • Apply technical expertise to ensure optimal equipment operation and obtain manufacturing approval on operating conditions.
  • Conduct first off inspections during process changes and routine inspections to detect potential equipment failures or wear.
  • Support Production teams by proactively identifying and resolving process-related issues.
  • Coordinate the availability of parts necessary for preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct periodic quality inspections to ensure that manufactured products meet set standards.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation.

Compliance (15%)

  • Operate within established controls and procedures to maintain operational integrity.
  • Report any risks or areas of concern to management.
  • Promote adherence to relevant regulations and internal procedures to prevent wasteful or irregular expenditure.

Cost Control (10%)

  • Ensure effective, transparent use of financial and other resources.
  • Monitor and manage expenditure, limit costs, and report deviations to management.

Customer Service (10%)

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external customers to deliver high-quality service.
  • Demonstrate integrity and problem-solving abilities aligned with company's core values.
  • Minimize operational discrepancies and ensure high customer and employee satisfaction.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4)
  • Trade Test Certificate: Millwright (NQF Level 5)

Minimum Experience

  • Up to 3 years of technical, electrical, and mechanical maintenance experience as a Millwright in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficient in MS Office and basic ERP systems (such as SAP).
  • Knowledge of maintenance best practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety regulations.
  • Strong understanding of housekeeping and occupational health and safety principles.
