Requirements & Qualifications
Red Seal Machinist certification (or equivalent recognized journeyman machinist certification)
At least 5 years of experience in machining/repair work (preferably including onsite / field machining)
Proven experience with portable machining tools (line boring, portable milling, flange facing, etc.)
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, GD&T, and tolerances
Proficient use of measuring and inspection instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, surface plates, height gauges, etc.)
Capability to travel frequently and work at remote/industrial sites (sometimes in adverse conditions)
Physically fit and able to lift, carry, and manipulate heavy parts; work in confined spaces, heights, or outdoors as needed
Strong safety mindset, with knowledge of industrial safety standards (OSHA, or local equivalent)
Valid driver's license: willingness to travel/relocate for assignments

Job Scope / Responsibilities
As a Red Seal Machinist working with OKOS, you will:
On-site machining & repair
Travel to client sites (industrial plants, mines, power stations, etc.) and perform machining tasks in the field (alignment, milling, turning, boring, grinding, rework)
Inspect, measure, and assess components and assemblies for repair, wear, tolerance, and fit
Use portable machining equipment such as line borers, portable milling machines, flange facing machines, surface grinders, etc.
Execute machining plans and make shop drawings or sketches on site when needed
Align shafts, re-bore housings, machine mating surfaces, retrofit parts, and perform corrective machining
Collaborate with welders, fitters, riggers, and pipefitters when combined repair solutions are needed
Quality control & technical assurance
Adhere to precise tolerances, specifications, blueprints, and engineering drawings
Use measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, CMM, bore gauges, surface plates) to verify dimensions
Perform dimensional checks and inspections on repaired parts
Document work performed, record measurements, deviations, and report to engineering/project leads
Safety, compliance & housekeeping
Comply with all safety policies, standards, and procedures on client sites (PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, fall protection)
Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
Perform pre-job risk assessments, hazard identifications, and ensure safe execution
Ensure that tooling, machines, and equipment are maintained, calibrated, and in safe condition
Project coordination & client interface
Work with project managers, site supervisors, and client contacts to understand tasks, priorities, and schedules
Estimate time, resource, tooling, and consumable needs for job scopes
Report progress, challenges, and deviations to project manager/team lead
Advise on solutions, best practices, or design modifications when needed
Continuous improvement & training
Stay updated on machining technologies, techniques, portable machine tools, and materials
Mentor junior machinists or apprentices as required
Participate in post-job reviews and provide feedback on tooling, procedures, and opportunities for improvement
