The Role: Credit Controller / Wages Clerk
This hybrid role is ideal for a finance professional with solid experience in both credit control and payroll processing. You'll be responsible for managing full-function debtors particularly in the FMCG sector where maintaining strict credit discipline is critical. You'll also handle end-to-end wages for approximately 80 employees, ensuring accurate calculations, statutory compliance, and timely processing.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Control

  • Minimum 3-4 years' experience in credit control and FMCG/high-volume accounts

  • Manage full-function debtors, including invoicing, credit notes, and statements

  • Perform credit checks, enforce credit terms, and maintain strong follow-up routines

  • Update and manage age analysis reports with weekly reporting to management

  • Reconcile debtor accounts and resolve queries proactively

  • Prepare handovers for external collection where required

Wages / Payroll

  • Process wages for approximately 80 employees (weekly/monthly cycles)

  • Accurately capture hours, overtime, leave, and deductions

  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies, and statutory requirements (UIF, PAYE, etc.)

  • Maintain clean payroll records and ensure audit readiness

  • Serve as the first point of contact for wage-related employee queries

About You

  • 3-4 years experience in both credit control and wage/payroll processing
  • Proven background working with FMCG or high-volume retail accounts
  • Skilled in debtors reconciliations, collections, and maintaining low debtor days
  • Experienced with processing payroll for ±80 employees
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting/payroll systems and Excel (basic formulas, reports)
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and numerically accurate
  • Professional communicator with a strong sense of confidentiality and integrity
  • Able to work independently and stay composed under pressure
