Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify welding procedures (WPS/PQR) in accordance with industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to production for welding-related issues and continuous improvement.
  • Perform root cause analysis for welding defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and robotic systems.
  • Design and optimize weld joint configurations for manufacturability and performance.
  • Conduct welder qualification and training programs.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in welding engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW, Laser Welding) and their application in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, heat treatment, and their impact on weld quality and performance.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols, as well as applying relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO).
  • Experience with root cause analysis, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, and quality control procedures for welding operations.

Bonus Qualifications

  • AWS CWI certification or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Experience with robotic welding systems and programming
  • Familiarity with NDT methods and interpretation
  • Project management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design and analysis
