Salary Range: $53,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications to determine tooling requirements.
- Perform precision measurements using metrology tools to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing tooling, implementing corrective actions.
- Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool longevity and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
Recommended Qualifications
- Journeyman Tool Maker certification or a minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience in tool and die making.
- Proficient in setting up and operating manual and CNC machinery, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs.
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
- Solid understanding of various metals, alloys, and heat treatment processes relevant to tool fabrication.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair tooling issues to maintain production quality and efficiency.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam) for design and programming.
- Proficiency in CNC machining operation and basic programming.
- Welding experience (TIG/MIG) for tool repair and fabrication.
- Knowledge of advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
- Familiarity with various heat treatment processes for tool steels.
