Salary Range: $60,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Whitehall seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Perform precise measurements using metrology instruments to ensure tooling accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing tooling to minimize production downtime.
  • Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool fabrication.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completed a recognized apprenticeship or vocational training in Tool and Die Making or a related precision machining discipline.
  • Proficiency in operating and setting up various manual and CNC machine tools, including mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDMs.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
  • Expertise in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs.
  • Solid understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material selection for diverse tooling applications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design and modification
  • CNC programming experience (G-code, CAM software)
  • Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM operation, optical comparators)
  • Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement initiatives
