Staff Accountant | Kalamazoo, MI

Salary Range: $61,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Kalamazoo seeking Staff Accountants who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Participate in inventory costing and valuation, including tracking raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
• Aid in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and analyze financial performance against those plans.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies, and assist with audits.
• Process payroll and related tax filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with inventory valuation and control.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• - Familiarity with inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, Weighted-Average).
• - Knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices specific to manufacturing environments.
• - CPA or CMA certification (or progress towards it).
• - Experience with variance analysis and reporting for manufacturing costs.
