Staff Accountant | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $57,000 - $87,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions.
• Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast.
• Maintain fixed asset records and process depreciation.
• Assist with inventory accounting, including costing and valuation.
• Participate in internal control testing and compliance activities.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with inventory valuation and control.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
• - Familiarity with Cost Accounting principles and manufacturing overhead allocation
• - Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas)
