Supplier Quality Engineer | Charlotte, MI

Salary Range: $79,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supplier quality assurance programs and procedures.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including PPAPs, FMEAs, and control plans.
  • Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues, including non-conforming materials and product defects.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering, purchasing) to define supplier quality requirements.
  • Manage supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and verify the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) processes to ensure supplier readiness and component quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in supplier quality management, auditing, and development within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and relevant industry standards.
  • Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, and CAPA.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Experience with supplier selection, qualification, and performance monitoring processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with statistical process control (SPC) software and analysis tools.
  • - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • - Knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
  • - Proficiency in CAD software for reviewing component drawings and designs.
  • - Understanding of international quality standards such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.
