Salary Range: $53,000 - $87,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop CNC programs for lathe machines using CAD/CAM software.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding, and machining strategies.
  • Create detailed setup sheets, tooling lists, and operational instructions.
  • Optimize existing programs for efficiency, cycle time, and tool life.
  • Perform program dry runs and troubleshoot issues during first article runs.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to refine manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure programs comply with quality standards, specifications, and safety protocols.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC lathes.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) for 2-axis and multi-axis lathe programming.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, workholding strategies, and material properties.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Practical experience in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC lathes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes (e.g., live tooling, sub-spindle).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for design or modification.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC lathe setup and operation for program prove-out.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with CMM or other advanced metrology equipment.
