Salary Range: $57,000 - $89,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, alter, and repair a wide range of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Operate precision machinery such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM equipment.
• Perform close tolerance machining operations to achieve specified dimensions and finishes.
• Conduct inspections of completed tools and components using various measuring instruments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance and functionality.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool designs and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Expertise in operating manual and CNC machining equipment (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs)
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application
• Ability to use a wide range of precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges)

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
• Familiarity with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) or Wire EDM processes.
• Certification in a relevant field such as machining technology or tool and die making.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor apprentices or junior tool makers.
• Experience in a lean manufacturing environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
