Salary Range: $59,000 - $93,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build dies, jigs, and fixtures for metal stamping and forming.
  • Repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure optimal production efficiency.
  • Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine tooling specifications.
  • Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in Tool and Die Making
  • 5+ years of experience in the setup and operation of manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs)
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues
  • Experience with precision measurement tools and techniques (micrometers, calipers, gauges)

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam) for tool design and programming.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, EDM) beyond basic setup.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform precision measurements using CMM or other advanced metrology equipment.
  • Certification or advanced training in specialized welding techniques (e.g., TIG, laser welding) for tool repair.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives within a tooling environment.
