Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize welding procedures and processes to ensure high-quality, defect-free welds.
  • Select appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and techniques for various manufacturing applications.
  • Conduct welding trials, testing, and analysis to validate procedures and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Train and qualify welding personnel on new procedures, techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures for welding operations, including visual inspection and non-destructive testing.

  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to ensure weldability and optimize product design for manufacturing.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) certification.
  • Proven experience in welding process selection, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, weldability of various materials, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Proficiency in welding procedure specification (WPS) development, qualification, and implementation.
  • Experience with quality control, quality assurance, and relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API).

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with advanced welding processes like electron beam welding or friction stir welding.
  • - Familiarity with robotic welding systems and automation integration.
  • - Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation.
  • - Certification in welding inspection (e.g., CWI).
  • - Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) of metals.
