Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in East Lansing that are seeking NPI Engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews for new products.
  • Develop, optimize, and document new manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Design, procure, and qualify manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Manage Bill of Material (BOM) and routing creation, accuracy, and changes throughout NPI phases.
  • Coordinate and execute pilot production runs, validation builds, and production ramp-up.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to ensure successful product launch.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturing process issues and yield challenges during new product introduction.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) or Manufacturing Engineering within a production environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and process optimization.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and experience with PLM/PDM systems.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles, and root cause analysis techniques.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Proficiency in advanced CAD/CAM software for tooling design or simulation
  • Experience with specific automation or robotics integration in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong data analysis skills using statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
