Staff Accountant | Caledonia, MI

Salary Range: $58,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• - Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• - Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• - Assist with inventory accounting, including cost accounting, valuation, and variance analysis.
• - Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accurate recording of transactions.
• - Participate in the annual audit process, preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation.
• - Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures.
• - Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• - Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting department.

Recommended Qualifications

• - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• - 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• - Strong understanding of Cost Accounting principles, including inventory valuation and overhead allocation.
• - Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
• - Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• - Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate financial reports.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems specifically designed for manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central)
• - Familiarity with standard costing principles and variance analysis in a manufacturing environment
• - Knowledge of inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, weighted-average) relevant to raw materials and finished goods
• - Understanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on cost accounting
• - Experience with fixed asset accounting for manufacturing equipment and facilities
