Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and qualify laser welding processes for manufacturing applications.
• Specify, procure, install, and maintain laser welding equipment and tooling.
• Diagnose and resolve laser welding production issues, implementing root cause corrective actions.
• Establish and monitor quality control standards and inspection methods for laser welded components.
• Collaborate with design and R&D teams on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for laser weldable parts.
• Create and maintain detailed process documentation, work instructions, and engineering reports.
• Conduct laser safety audits and ensure compliance with industry safety regulations.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 3-5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial laser welding systems (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2) in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in laser weld process development, optimization, and troubleshooting for various materials (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, exotic alloys).
• Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, joint design principles, and common weld defect analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD software for fixture design and familiarity with industrial robot programming (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) for laser applications.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with welding simulation software (e.g., Simufact Welding, SYSWELD) or finite element analysis (FEA) for weld prediction.
• Proficiency in robotic programming and integration for automated laser welding systems.
• Knowledge of advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for weld inspection (e.g., X-ray, CT scanning, ultrasonic).
• Experience with laser welding of exotic materials, superalloys, or dissimilar material combinations.
