Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the organization, inventory, and maintenance of all tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure timely procurement of new tools and replacement parts, managing vendor relationships and negotiating prices.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures within the tool room to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment.
• Supervise, train, and mentor tool room personnel, assigning tasks and evaluating performance.
• Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all tooling to minimize downtime and maximize lifespan.
• Manage the calibration and repair of precision measuring instruments and tooling.
• Maintain accurate records of tool usage, repairs, inventory levels, and expenditures.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to provide necessary tooling for new product introductions and process improvements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in tool room operations and maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of tooling, machining processes, and quality control procedures.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Proficiency in inventory management, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and troubleshooting methodologies for manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a tool room setting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) for CNC programming.
• Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles in a machine shop environment.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for design review and modification.
• Experience managing an apprenticeship or formal technical training program.
