Salary Range: $53,000 - $87,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs (G-code, M-code) for lathe operations.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and workholding methods for specific parts.
  • Create detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and operational instructions for machinists.
  • Simulate and verify CNC programs to ensure accuracy, collision avoidance, and efficiency.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming or machining issues to maintain production flow.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to improve manufacturing processes and part quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC lathes.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam Lathe, Fusion 360) for generating turning toolpaths.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • In-depth knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, workholding, and machining parameters for various materials.
  • Proven experience in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC lathes to prove out programs.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced CAM features (e.g., multi-axis turning, mill-turn synchronization)
  • Proficiency in G-code editing and optimization for various control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol)
  • Knowledge of post-processor modification or development
  • Experience with machining simulation software (e.g., Vericut, NCSIMUL)
