Staff Accountant | Montague, MI

Salary Range: $53,000 - $83,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations.
• Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Support inventory accounting, including cycle counting, variance analysis, and valuation.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and presentations.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Participate in internal control testing and compliance activities.
• Provide support for audits and tax filings.
• Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports for management.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365).
• - Familiarity with cost accounting principles and inventory valuation methods specific to manufacturing environments.
• - Knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and bill of materials (BOM) reconciliation.
• - Experience with SOX compliance and internal control documentation within a manufacturing setting.
