Weld Technician | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $44,000 - $69,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations according to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
• Inspect and test welds for defects, ensuring adherence to safety and quality regulations.
• Operate and maintain welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, stick, and spot welders.
• Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and fitting components.
• Troubleshoot welding issues and make necessary adjustments to equipment and procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to identify and implement process improvements.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain accurate records of welding activities, materials used, and quality control checks.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding is preferred.
• Proven experience as a welder or in a related manufacturing role.
• Knowledge of various welding techniques and materials (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick, aluminum, stainless steel).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications.
• Proficiency in using welding equipment and tools, including safety procedures.
• Strong understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with robotic welding systems
• - AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE)
• - Proficient in CAD software for weldment design review
• - Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
