Salary Range: $65,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and repair complex tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Operate precision machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment to fabricate tooling components.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to understand design requirements and tolerances.
  • Perform precise measurements and inspections to ensure parts meet strict quality standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with tooling during production runs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and sharpen existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to identify tooling needs and improvements.
  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for tooling construction.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machining equipment (e.g., lathes, milling machines, grinders).
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and techniques.
  • Knowledge of various tool steels and heat treatment processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair tooling and dies.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with CNC programming and operation for tool and die fabrication.
  • - Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for mold and die design.
  • - Knowledge of various heat treatment processes for tooling.
  • - Experience with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) for intricate die components.
  • - Certification in advanced machining techniques or metrology.
