Salary Range: $64,000 - $99,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, repair, and modify complex dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Operate precision machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to determine specifications.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling malfunctions, performing necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Select appropriate materials and heat treat them as required for tooling fabrication.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completed apprenticeship or vocational training in Tool and Die Making or a related field
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs
  • Expert ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Demonstrated skill in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators)
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and various tool steels and materials
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for complex tooling issues and process improvements

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Experience with CNC programming (G-code, conversational programming).
  • Welding and general fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
