Salary Range: $58,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Traverse City that are seeking skilled Environmental Health & Safety Specialists. Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations and company policies.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing refreshers.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments of manufacturing facilities and operations.
• Investigate EHS incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Manage environmental permits and ensure adherence to permit conditions and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness activities.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 3-5 years of direct EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other federal/state EHS regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to conduct EHS risk assessments, incident investigations, and develop/deliver safety training programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to fostering a proactive safety culture.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Proficiency with EHS management software (e.g., Gensuite, Intelex, Cority).
• Experience with specific environmental permitting (e.g., Title V, NPDES, RCRA).
• Certified Ergonomics Associate (CEA) or equivalent specialized ergonomics training.
