Salary Range: $54,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for lathe machines using CAD/CAM software or G-code.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding, and machining parameters for diverse materials and part geometries.
  • Simulate and verify CNC programs to prevent collisions, optimize cycle times, and ensure part accuracy.
  • Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tooling lists, and operational instructions for machine operators.
  • Collaborate with engineers and operators to troubleshoot and resolve programming or machining issues.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve part quality.
  • Ensure all programmed parts meet specified dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) for generating G-code.
  • Expertise in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong understanding of CNC lathe operations, tooling, and workholding principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize CNC programs for efficiency, quality, and material removal rates.
  • Solid knowledge of various materials and their machining characteristics.
  • Ability to perform manual G-code editing and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with CNC lathe setup and operation.
  • Proficiency with additional CAD/CAM software packages or advanced features.
  • Experience with DNC systems and post-processor development/modification.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
