Salary Range: $53,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair on existing production tooling.
  • Operate conventional and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs) to tight tolerances.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling malfunctions, implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify tool dimensions and quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proven experience in tool and die making, precision machining, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, sche schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Expertise in operating and setting up a range of machine shop equipment, including manual and CNC mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of metrology, utilizing precision measuring instruments.
  • Solid knowledge of various metal properties, tooling materials, and heat treatment processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
  • Experience operating and programming CNC machining centers
  • TIG or Laser welding experience for tool repair and modification
  • Experience with advanced metrology equipment such as CMMs or optical comparators
